hello friends and collectors! Just a note here about this online small works sale. My work is mostly available in two wonderful galleries, but not all the smaller paintings end up there. I paint many more than I send to them, and I like to occasionally make some of these available to my friends and collectors without the added expense of framing. The small works sale pricing reflects that, and applies only to the paintings available here.

Close to home. There's a spot I love to go, and have gathered so many sky ideas sitting on this hillside.

So sweet. You can turn this painting any direction and it still works ;)

Door County, Wisconsin. A white house and a shed facing the lake. Facing away from us, which is an unusual way to set up a painting. I think on the lake side is where all the fun stuff happens.

Driggs, Idaho. Diaphanous pink sky reflected in the river. Not shown: quite a few people floating the river.

Arizona. Painted on the spot. An excellent cloud day with excellent cloud shadows on the desert floor and a sense of heaven coming straight down to earth.

Vermilion Cliffs, northern Arizona. At sunset the cliffs light up like flames. I got started and was thinking, you know what would be great here is a foreground shadow. And just then the world turned enough that the cliffs behind me cast a racing shadow that zipped right up to the foot of the cliffs I was painting. Thank you, Nature. Block in the upper left is from the clamp used to hold the panel to the box. Has one of my most successful tiny signatures ever.

Driggs, Idaho, or near there. A flat plane recedes to the blue mountains.

Vermilion Cliffs, northern Arizona. Painted on location with Plein Air Painters of America and our students. The light changes so dramatically throughout the day. Beautiful pinks turn into hulking blues.

Standing above Shark Harbor or somewhere thereabouts, looking west over the Pacific Ocean. Sunlight on the water. On p. 138 of my book; you'll notice I adjusted the foreground cactus a little.

Colorado. Painted on location using acrylic when I was there for PACE, then when I got home I glazed blue over it. Cool watercolor-like effect.

Taos, New Mexico. On a paint out with Plein Air Painters of America when we had a show at the Couse-Sharp Historic Site. Long low mountains, dramatic skies, dry grassy plain.

Taos. A dark tree nearly centered. A flat, shrubby plain. A lightening sky. I was painting with the two visitors from Turkmenistan this day.

A little paint experiment.

In 2019, Charlie Hunter organized what came to be called "En Train Air"--several painters traveling by train and painting in towns between Chicago and LA. What a ride! Here's Larry on the train.

Those long red wavelengths coming through the atmosphere.

Painted in 2013 on my first visit to Laguna Beach. I had no red paint with me. Kept in the studio for a long time. The big mystery is this: some months ago it appeared in my mailbox. No envelope, not addressed to me, just in there with the mail. My house was broken into a few months before that, so my only guess is maybe they took it and then felt bad and returned it. Like I said, a mystery.
