YOU GLOW GIRL! AIMEE ERICKSON demo at the
PLEIN AIR CONVENTION AND EXPO

Thursday, April 25, 11 am in San Francisco
One of the most appealing effects in a painting is when stuff glows. It might be a light source, like a candle or the moon in the night sky, or a string of fairy lights. It might be a well lit object like, you name it, a person in a portrait or a little clementine in a still life. How do you get it to look like it's glowing? When Aimee was growing up, her dad was a NASA astronomer and the physics of light was a frequent topic at the dinner table. But you don't need a PhD to understand how value and color create lighting effects. There are some head-slappingly simple principles that you can use in your paintings to create the effect of light. Get some glow! Aimee Erickson will show you how it's done.
Open to all who are registered for the convention.  Discounted registration

What makes for really great color in a painting? How do we translate what we see into an appealing color composition? If your painting has beautiful color and beautiful brushstrokes, it will contain a beauty that can override weakness in other areas.  This workshop gives oil painters the chance to better understand practical color problems. Learn your eye’s bias and how pre-mixing can set you up for success. You’ll be given several tools that you can use to continue your color study after the workshop. We’ll do plenty of exercises and paint directly from still life setups. Color studies with demonstration and exercises with a live model on the last day.
